Fifty-four looks, and you choose every one

A Saturday church wedding in white and a Sunday mehndi in marigold don't want the same edit. Pick a look for each wedding, change it for any single photo, and turn it up or down. CullTone never decides a family should get "red and gold" from their skin, clothes or ceremony.

Every look starts from your camera's own colour (how editing works) and then shapes contrast, colour, grading, vignette and grain. The same look on a Sony and a Canon file still starts from each camera's rendering.

The look belongs to the wedding, not to you, so each project gets the one that suits that family.

One frame, every look

The same garden first look rendered through each of the 54 looks at full strength, straight from CullTone. Open any one to see it on a studio portrait and a night dance floor, with its curve and settings drawn out.

Eighteen looks for particular ceremonies

Cultural looks keep colours a general look would "correct". A red and gold banquet hall is supposed to be red and gold; candlelight and marigolds are supposed to be warm. Eight are for weddings and ceremonies around the world, and ten were made for Indian weddings, region by region.

Kannada, Malayali Muslim, Odia, Assamese and other regional traditions don't have a look of their own yet. A general look at a lower strength, or your own saved look, is the workaround for now.

Strength, per photo overrides and your own looks

Each look has a strength slider from 0 to 1.5. At 0 you get the plain camera-matched edit; at 1, the look as designed; above 1, more of everything it does, without the colours changing character.

Set the look for the project when you create it. In the studio you can switch one photo to another look, which is handy for a black and white set inside a colour wedding. When a look is close but not quite yours, adjust it in the studio and save it as your own. It joins the 54 in your workspace, and a new version never replaces the old one until you say so. Or skip looks altogether and let CullTone learn your style from a Lightroom catalog.

Two looks that need work

Every look is tried on five test photos against our skin colour check. Most pass four of five. Moody & rich passes none. Light & airy passes one, so expect flags on faces in the Review step with either until we retune them.

None of the 54 has yet been judged against a working photographer's own edits.
