Every photo of the grandmother, in one click
The album meeting is on Thursday and the bride's mother wants to see every frame of her own mother. People sorts the faces in a wedding into one card per person, so that's a click, not an evening. It's on by default and stays inside that one wedding.
What you can do with it
The People tab shows a card for each person with their best face, how many photos they're in and how many of those are Keep. Name a card, merge two that are the same person, split out a face in the wrong group, or hide someone. In the cull grid, a Person filter shows only the frames with that face.
Coverage is the clever bit.
Mark someone as a key person with a minimum, say five keepers for the groom's mother, and the next cull moves her best Review frames to Keep until she has five; if that's not enough, her best archived frames move up to Review. The reason says so: "kept so Groom's mother has at least 5 photos". Your own decisions still win.
Reviewers can see the groups, editors and owners can change them, and every change goes into the audit log.
One wedding at a time
Faces are only ever compared with other faces in the same project. There is no studio-wide or global face library, so the aunt who appears at three of your weddings this season is a stranger in each one.
Why it starts switched on
Face data counts as biometric data under many privacy laws, and some studios would rather this were off until they chose it. We went the other way, because finding everyone is the whole point at a wedding and a feature hidden behind a setting rarely gets found. The studio accepts it in our Terms at sign-up, and there is no separate consent pop-up.
Our privacy policy explains how face data is kept and deleted.
Turning it off
On the project's People tab, "Turn off & delete" removes that wedding's face data and groups from your workspace straight away, and the project stops grouping faces. You can't switch it off while a cull or render is running. Switching it back on is one click, and the next cull rebuilds the groups.
Known gap: CullTone Desktop currently leaves a copy of the face data in the project's working folder on your Mac after People is turned off. We're fixing it.
Find everyone in one wedding
People runs on the first cull of every new project in the trial. Open the People tab once the cull finishes.
