Samaro or CullTone for a three-day Indian wedding

The hard part of a three-day wedding is the week after it: thousands of RAW files from the haldi to the reception, to be culled, edited in the right look for each ceremony and delivered to the family. That is the week CullTone was built for.

Our pick: CullTone. The cull and the edit are in a flat plan with no per-photo charge, every photo gets Keep, Review or Archive with the reason beside it, and you choose a look made for the ceremony instead of one warm grade for every family.

CullTone runs on a Mac with Apple silicon; Windows is not available yet.

No meter on the edit

Samaro's homepage charges for AI editing per photo, "from ₹3 a photo in India and 3¢ a photo in the US". A wedding with 3,000 edited frames therefore costs at least ₹9,000 to edit, on top of the plan.

CullTone's cull and edit are not metered. Shoot a big wedding? The bill stays put. The only paid extras are optional changes from a prompt, at about $0.10 to $0.14 a photo, and each one shows its price before it runs.

The cull, explained

The first decisions appear within seconds of the card going in. Bursts from the lead camera and the second shooter are grouped together even when their clocks disagree, so the varmala from three angles sits in one stack. Every set-aside frame says why: eyes closed, motion blur, a sharper frame in the same burst. Nothing is deleted.

Red and white is not temple gold

A Bengali wedding in red and white and a Kerala wedding in temple gold and greenery should not come out of the same grade. CullTone has 54 looks. Alongside White wedding clean and Chinese red & gold, the cultural ones include Bengali red & white, Kerala natural green, South Indian temple gold, Rajasthani royal, Punjabi bold and Nikah soft pastel. You choose the look per project. CullTone never picks one from skin tone, clothing or ceremony.

The face retouch leaves a bindi, kumkum, tilak, nose pin or mole exactly where it is. People grouping finds the bride, groom and family across the project so you can check that every aunt is covered, and it never matches faces across projects. Both are described on CullTone for Indian weddings.
