No signal at the venue? Keep culling

The hotel wifi is down, the farmhouse has one bar, and the couple wants a sneak peek by breakfast. CullTone Desktop copies the card and sorts the wedding on your Mac with or without a connection, and catches up once you're back online.

Copying the card

Choose a card or folder and CullTone Desktop copies it into a library on your Mac, by default Pictures/CullTone Library, one folder per card and date. Every file is checked against the card after it's copied, before it gets its real name. File dates are kept, hidden files skipped, and if the copy is interrupted, running it again picks up where it stopped.

The card is only read, never written to. Formatting it is still your call; we'd wait until the import says it's complete.

What works without internet

Editing, the paid second opinion on close bursts, and galleries need a connection. Plan the edit for somewhere with internet.

When you're back online the wedding appears in your workspace with your decisions and previews. If a teammate changed the same photo in the meantime, the later change wins and your Mac shows a note about it.

The menu bar

Each wedding on your Mac shows its state: synced, syncing, waiting with a count of files to go, or an error with a retry. The menu-bar icon has Sync now, Pause and Resume, and Open at login, which starts off. Closing the window lets work finish in the background; quitting asks first if something is still running. Below 20% battery it stops taking on new work, so your laptop survives the drive home.

The app has a proper Mac menu bar too, with the keys you'd expect: File for a new project, a card import and bringing in edited files, Go to jump between Projects and a wedding's steps, and Help for the help centre and the shortcuts. Right-click the Dock icon for your recent weddings, and the icon shows how far the current job has got.

Show in Finder opens the folder with the file already selected, either a photo's delivered final or its original, from the edit screen, the cull's photo panel or the project header. It works on the wedding's main computer.

Your Mac does the work, so it has to be awake

Renders and exports for a wedding run on the Mac that holds its originals. Each wedding has one main computer, the one that imported it. If that Mac is asleep, they wait, and the app tells you which computer it's waiting for. To move a wedding to another Mac, copy the files there and choose Make this the main computer. Everyone else works in the web app. What's stored and how it's protected is on the security page.

You need a Mac with Apple silicon. Windows is not available yet. The beta isn't signed by Apple, so macOS asks you to allow it the first time you open it. Download details and system needs.
